Actually answering the OP question.  All of the long distrance trains will be restored to their "pre-covid" frequencies around Memorial day.  Actual start dates vary a little.  This is part of the stimulus package passed last month.

Thank you.  Other countries spend money on their countries.  Expensive? Yes, as are all things worthwhile.   Passenger railroads as a whole don't make money.  There are some routes that come close, but in order to have a comprehensive service network, long hauls and lower density lines need to be a part of the the feeder system.  There are many expensive non-revenue aspects of the Government that we pay for and underutilize.  It is the cost of haveing a cohesive nation that functions.  Many nations understand this; the U.S. not so much.

Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, UK all "lose" money on tranportation. They consider it the price of doing business. So should we!

Amtrak takes a bit of our $$$$$ just to stay afloat.  Otherwise your choices are the bus or which airline to pad the pockets of.  America's love of our cars/trucks/motorcycles has done a great job of destroying our passenger service.  We have come far too close to losing it forever as it is.  The last four years have not been kind to many things.

Well said, so many people only want the government to spend money when it benefits them and not others. We need to get past that and realize that sometimes there just isn't something in it for you but later on there might be somethng that benefits you and not someone else. It's called helping each other, which is what we sorely need as a country.

I love trains but even more, I love that we can make our own choices...

I have been riding trains since before I was born (really!) and rarely ever ate on them, never needed to or brought our own food.
Managed to survive to 85...
