Found this unit on the south side of Ontario Airport.  Why and which units are required to have Utra Low Sulfur disl fuel?  and why use different fuels?

It is because it has tier 4 emissions.  In 2021, I doubt you can get anything but low sulphur diesel.  Maybe it would be higher sulphur content from the local heating oil truck.

Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel (ULSD) is the only type of diesel fuel made and available for sale anymore i believe, and it's been that way for several years. I believe it's 15 PPM, parts per million sulphur...compared to Low Sulphur Diesel (LSD)..which is 500 PPM. I haven't seen (LSD) for sale commercially in at least 10 years. Older equipment with mechanical style fuel pumps needed the sulphur to lubricate the fuel systems...not so much the case anymore with computerized components and newer engines.

I think it's funny that they have the sticker on the side warning to only use ULSD.......there is no other. I guess....it will run on any type of oil however...waste oil, motor oil, kerosene....guess the sticker is there to keep somebody from dumping any of that in there.

I believe Marine Diesel has the higher sulfur content. Not that a sticker is gonna stop any Doofus from putting in the wrong stuff anyway.
