BNSF grain train with mixed-up consist south through Oregon
Author: roustabout

BNSF 7597 south unit grain train came through the Shedd area on UP's Brooklyn Sub today with a KCS de Mexico unit and a BNSF war bonnet for power.  As I understood it, UP's Eugene Yard is a bit plugged up and UP had held a SB manifest at Shedd and ran this grain train around it. Plus the grain met a northbound non clearing manifest at Alford; the northbound also met the southbound Amtrak Cascade at Hallawell.  After a quiet day with no trains, UP opened up the floodgates just before sunset this evening.

Why not avoid UP's mess and just run this train on their own INSIDE GATEWAY trackage??

Nice light! Maybe UP held the train until the light was better....

Because it's a UP train. With BNSF power.

Really? It had a BNSF DPU as well and seemed to have a lot of the grain hopper reporting marks of unit trains more often seen on BNSF. I'd be interested to know more, thanks!
