Heard the DS talking to a grain train going west to Sharon Springs about 0400 this morning thatt was around the Quinter Ks area.  As he cleared Oakley Ks, there is an EB grain train that will head toward Salina coming from Colby, on the Plainville industrial spur.  There is also an oil train tied down in Sharon Springs, that is called for 0530, to head East.  They have trains on the KP today, and I have to work, bummer!!

Friend caught a coal empty as well westbound last night east of Sharon Springs

How much of the line is signalled? What is the sppeed limit? Thanks!

it has a few CTC islands for meets, speed limit is 35  and a lot of 25 iirc, a far cry from pre amtrak days  

they have put a lot of  welded rail in the  last  25 years

most trains run about 40 mph, from what I was  told.  It is all track warrant out here, but you hear very little any more, they recieve there warrants via the PTC system.  only signals are around the passing track areas.
