Western Railroad Discussion > UP 12-car passenger move in SoCal this AM

UP ran a 12 car deadhead passenger train into West Colton this morning pulled by SD70M 4404. The train was seen westbound on the BNSF through Cajon Pass, crossing onto UP rails at Keenbrook. After stopping for a signal at Slover, the train is seen passing above the Metrolink San Gabriel Sub at 8:15AM as it heads into the yard.

Nice looking train! Someone posted a photo of this train in western Nebraska and I commented it was nice to see an older SD-70M in new paint out earning a living.

Washing is classified as maintenance or upkeep so it is charged to an operating expense account.
Depreciation is an expense to recognize the reduction in value over time of  capital assets..

It also has the front facing camera and wifi equipment installed so that the folks in back can see what's happening up front.
Not having to set up and tear down the equipment all the time makes life a lot easier for the guys running the train.

Saw this heading north through Lancaster just before 9am today
