Photo 1. When I caught up to the local, they had just left the gated mine area and were starting their run down the hill back to Lompoc. They only had the caboose in tow- no loads today. Photos 2&3. The line comes down the hill and curves around behind the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building- this called for a drone shot to get it right. Photos 4&5. Once off the hill and into town there's a quick few blocks of street running. Photo 6. Cut off the caboose and tie it down. It will stay here till the local returns next week. Now it's a 10 mile, 10 mile an hour, stroll back to Surf... Continued. At the very least, they should set up "STOP" signs on the corners. Of course, when a train is crossing the intersection, it sorta presents a command presence.

Really amazing since there's only about a 2-second gap in the flashing cycle. Great series of shots. |
