More UTAH in Kansas
Author: santafe199

Looking due east from rural Mitchell County 360 Rd we see KYLE's jack-of-all-trades manifest rolling over hill 'n dale, on its way to an interchange with Uncle Pete down on the KP at Salina, KS. The trailing unit lettered 'CORP 4074' will be set out at Beloit along with that string of ballast hoppers on the point. A spring time M.O.W. project is in the offing. And I just couldn't resist shooting an "away" shot of the 2 former UTAH units on this high Kansas plain, especially in the golden, edging into blue hour...

1. & 2. KYLE consist of UTAH 5002, 5003 & CORP 4074 leads this manifest rolling along about 2 1/2 miles west (south?) of Scottsville, KS on April 11, 2021. This is former Missouri Pacific branch line territory. Picasa editing.

Thanks for looking!

Still mumble over that line, crossed it many times  shiny rails and never saw a train. Nice shot!

Thanks, guys! Now that it's fully green everywhere I fully intend to spend some considerable time shooting the KYLE. Especially on this old Mop branch segment. It has definately caught my attention...

Need a conveniently place EF5 tornado to wipe out a few of those trees. That location would look amazing from a drone.

Oh, I dunno... I think I'd be happy to "cultivate" a few of those weeds away from down front. I just didn't have time to get the weed-whacker out!

Nice 1st shot.  Franz would have had that one pesky tree cut to kindling before the train came.

That would have been a chore... When I stopped and got out of the rig the train was already over the hump and about to swing into the curve. My "hit & run" style was fully into play on this series...
