Ambient temps over NM are unusually high the last few days, in the 100s. Local news reports a front end derailment.
Sounds like a track sun kink, to me.

Wiping out a XO is very bad, especially if you do not have a replacement close at hand. Those things take quite a bit of effort to build.

The back up of freights will be tremendous!  It will take days to sort this out!

I wonder if as a temporary measure the track can be rebuilt without the crossover to get the line open and then come back when a new cross over panels are ready.
