Western Railroad Discussion > A few from Fourth of July morningDate: 07/08/21 19:39 A few from Fourth of July morning Author: oyw I made my usual rounds on Cajon last Sunday morning and even though it was mostly cloudy, I was able to do a pretty good job outrunning the clouds. The following shots were all taken between 6:30 and 9:15AM on the 4th of July.
1) The day began at Old Keenbrook with Amtrak #3 running about an hour late. As I waited at Old Keenbrook, the next eastbound was BNSF 8081. With KCS GE 4770 second out facing forward, I felt obligated to give chase. 2) Looking across Cajon Creek from old 66 between Blue Cut and Cajon. 3) And from the traditional Pine Lodge location. Date: 07/08/21 19:42 Re: A few from Fourth of July morning Author: oyw 4) After a quick trip up to Summit, I found UP 3069 Tier-4 EMD crossing from the BNSF onto home rails at Silverwood. I got lucky at the Mormon Rocks as the clouds parted seconds before this shot was taken.
5) From the same location over on the BNSF, a going away shot of a rear DPU shoving an eastbound up Main track 1. *Disclaimer…I painted out the graffiti on the bridge abutment using Photoshop. 6) I followed the 3069 down to Dike, waiting at the south switch. There must have been congestion in West Colton because the train stopped before reaching me. Since I was there, I grabbed a shot of the old SP signal box. There you have it, another “fashionably late” report from yours truly. As always, thanks for looking.
