2 roster shots taken in N. Little Rock 13 days apart.  1st one DRGW 5505 is prepped and ready for the Jenks yellow dip on 11-12-00.   2nd pic was also taken in NLR fresh from the paint booth on 11-25-00.

Sad to see, especially given they're all scrapped now except DRGW 5517, now Southwestern 9861.

The Rio Grande SD50s may have been in better condition than the ones UP got from other sources. The whole batch were on the roster until their mass retirement in 2007, and were regularly seen out on the road (including on Z-trains, etc) during that span. In contrast, most of the ex-MP SD50s were retired around 2000-2001, with only ten or so retained until the 2007 purge.

I can’t speak to the condition of the ex-DRGW SD50s compared to the original UP (nee-MP) SD50s. However, the ex-DRGW SD50s were on an operating lease that did not expire until 18 June 2007. UP terminated the lease on 15 June 2007 and all 17 units were returned to the Bank of New York.
