Western Railroad Discussion > Dixie fire updateDate: 08/01/21 15:43 Dixie fire update Author: mleland The Plumas county Sheriff has updated the evacuation orders related to the Dixie fire.
Most of Indian Valley is now under a warning instead of a mandatory order. American Valley/Quincy now has no evacuation order. East shore of Lake Almanor is only a warning order now. Also hwy 89 is open. This includes hwy 70 from the Greenville wye to Quincy. I am sure there will be damage updates as things begin to open up. The request from the Sheriff is to stay off the roads unless necessary because of continued fire crew use. Drier conditions and high winds predicted. There was a small spot fire above Greenville last night. I think we will head back in on Wednesday. DaveL says he is going up today. We are all anxious to get back. TJY

We were in Lee Vining last week, eastern gateway to Yosemite, and had 6 out of 7 days with rain. Tuesday night had 1+" of rain at least as far north as Bridgeport, but this rain may not be getting up to Dixie Fire. I couldn't find precipitation reports. This week it will be dry in LV. mapboy Date: 08/02/21 13:13 Re: Dixie fire update Author: GN599 The one bright spot is there have been no fatalities correct?

http://www.alertwildfire.org/shastamodoc/index.html?camera=Axis-IndianRidge&v=fd40729 Hit the "Play" button top left corner and choose a time lapse that shows from 4pm onward. That is NOT good at all for Greenville. It is burning straight down Round Valley Road into to town now. DaveL is aware and not going home today. |
