Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF H3 paint scheme "Dash9" on the Front Range Sub (08/02/2021)Date: 08/02/21 19:38 BNSF H3 paint scheme "Dash9" on the Front Range Sub (08/02/2021) Author: jmulhol2 BNSF #8512 (EMD SD70ACe) and smoky #727 (GE C44-9W) lead a northbound empty "blade" unit train past ~MP69.5 on the BNSF Front Range Subdivision in South Fort Collins, CO, during the early morning hours of 08/02/2021. BNSF will transport this empty "blade" unit train just a few miles down the track to North Yard in Fort Collins, CO, where the Great Western Railway will then bring the empty flat cars down the Great Western Railway Greeley Subdivision to the Vestas Blades manufacturing plant in Windsor, CO, to be re-loaded. BNSF #727, which was originally built in 07/1997, formerly wore the "warbonnet" paint scheme until somewhere between 09/2007--and--10/2007 after which this motor was repainted in the H3 paint scheme at the Mid-America Car, Inc. shop in Kansas City, MO (according to pictures/descriptions posted on rrpicturearchives.net).
Total # of axles = 300 (2 motors; 72 cars) Date: 08/02/21 20:00 Re: BNSF H3 paint scheme "Dash9" on the Front Range Sub (08/02/20 Author: ns2557 That BNSF 8512 is one of 20 SD70ACe-P4's. Wheel arrangement/ trucks are a B1-1B. Both inner axles are non powered like the BNSF ES44C4's, which are A1A-A1A Only 20 built all on BNSF 8500-8519. Always try and find the odd ones in the fleets. I had looked up that motor too and saw the "P4" mark, but wasn't 100% sure if that meant "Tier 4" (as in emissions requirments) or the special wheel arrangement/trucks. Thank you for clarifying! |
