Date: 09/14/21 08:35 Re: Jet blower? Author: frntinplate Also UP used this years ago to blow sand out of mainliine tracks to prevent blowing sand from getting under tieplates when trains passed. Sand would blow under the tipped tie plate and eventually caused wide gage to remain in place which could have causerd derailments. So it was used in areas with no snow but lots of blowing sand. Sometimes out of LasVegas area.
