Western Railroad Discussion > In the hills of Western Iowa.Date: 09/14/21 09:50 In the hills of Western Iowa. Author: zoohogger Balfour, Iowa is the railroad name for the crossovers just east of Glenwood Iowa. The CB&Q climbs out of the Missouri river valley and the trains are going pretty slow by the time they reach the top.
There is a concrete bridge over the road just east of Balfour and an old wooden bridge still exists about a mile or two east. #1 BNSF 5175 splits the signals at Balfour, Iowa. #2 From the vantage point of the wooden bridge, we see The special coal hopper. #3 and the DPU 6111 is done pushing over the hill and can idle for a bit.
