Western Railroad Discussion > Eustace, TXDate: 09/15/21 14:26 Eustace, TX Author: StStephen Several years ago a post noted there was a sulpher plant in Eustace TX that had closed, the only customer on the branch running to there from Athens. It was noted due to changes in the energy markets. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4041284,4041284#msg-4041284
I drove through Athens today and the branch appears intact, but couldn't tell if it was active or not - rails did not appear shiny. Is the branch dead for good or is there any traffic out of that plant these days or potentially in the future? TIA Bruce Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/15/21 14:28 by StStephen. We used to feel the heat coming off the sulphur trains as they passed the Tyler depot. Date: 09/15/21 18:59 Re: Eustace, TX Author: JimBaker Start a Hand Car Ride or a Speeder Trail like Todd and Mason have done.
