J.B. Hunt's 2021 logo *tweak*, anyone notice it yet??
Author: MrMRL

May or may not be related to the company's 60th anniversary (1961-2021), but I've seen plenty of fresh 53' containers popping up around So Cal over the past 2-3 months showing off the (new) logos.

Can you tell which one is the [new] one?

The top container has the updated/newest logo.  In addition, the font on "intermodal" is smaller on the top container than the bottom.

Been seeing them in the Carolinas for the last several months as well.   Sporadic at first, but more and more are being put into service.

On the ground they are limited to 3 high because they are not built to the same standards as international containers.

The average life of a container varies somewhat, based upon original build materials and design.  Aluminum sided containers have a pretty short life span maybe 5-10 years.  The best containers are all steel and have a life span of 10-20 years if properly maintained.  Some of our original  all steel 53' Pacer Stacktrain containers are still out there in service with markings under UMAX and/or EMP and other companies, now in their 20th year of service!

I hate it; looks like Con-Cor or somebody tried to make the standard Hunt logo and got it very wrong...

20 and 40 foot "Marine" containers don't last as long as the domestic containers because of all that exposure to humid, salty air when they're on the boat.

I still see Maersk-Sealand contaners in double stack trains pretty often. Maersk aquired Saeeland in 1999. So some of those contaners are 20-21-22 years old now I would imagine. Maybe some of those are due for retirerment.

Ten replies to something as insignificant as a minor logo change?  Must be a sign that railroads have become extremely boring, unfortunately..   This could also apply to the endless comments about car grafiti and Amtrak's on-time performance, all of which we have absolutely no control over, but pain some people so greatly.  Guess I'm just a bitter old man some would say!

I answer a question someone else asked about people noticing container logos, and I'm the one accused of bitching? Real nice...
