Low Light on the Overland Route
Author: santafe199

I’ve been watching the squeaker (so far) between the Cardinal & the Dodgers tonight. It’s kinda tense for this part-time Cardinal’s fan. So I very idly dove into the “Low Light Candidates” folder on my desktop. I found this image that I first posted 9 years ago, when I still only had primitive Picasa for editing. Here’s a better, much more practiced Photoshop version. Color can indeed shine on an overcast day...

Back to the game, it’s now 1-1 in the 5th...

1. UP 7605 on a westbound stacker at Arlington, NE on March 20, 2012.

Thanks for looking again!

Added: Yeah, I know. Arlington isn't quite on the Overland Route. But we chased a great many trains between Fremont & Columbus before losing daylight. It was a fun time! :^)

Added later: Dodgers win 3-1! Walk-off 2-run homer in B-9th. Good lookin' team. I gotta root for them, big time. How about a Dodgers ~ White Sox World Series?

And 60 years ago they might ride Santa Fe rails back & forth! Of course, that's ignoring travel by air. Would they ride luxury, ala Super Chief? Or City of LA over the UP?
Or would they be riding special charter trains...

:^)

Dodgers?  Seriously Lance?  Dodgers?  C'mon...it's Giants all the way.

Dodgers?  Sheesh.

UP 7605 in perhaps 2006 or 2007 was new.  I went to see a Union Pacific passenger train that I heard had arrived at Los Angeles Union Station and was on display for a few hours.  Sure enough, the passenger special was there!  It had come down the little used Coast Line.  And it was led by UP 7605.  Santafe199’s above photo brought back so many memories of that day!

Nice shot, Lance but the White Sox have to go through Houston country first!

Nice photo Lance,

I caught the UP 7605 through Cajon when it was still in GE demonstrator livery.

Thanks for sharing!

I sure didn't know about the GE Demo thing. Thanks for that little tidbit of info! :^)
