Grain-X in the golden hour
Author: santafe199

There’s not a whole lot of visual glory in a 1-unit grain empty rolling across the Kansas prairie. Unless that subtle but magical “golden hour” has arrived. Then I’m just glad to have a train to shoot...

1. UP 8162 leads a unit grain empty westbound over the old Rock Island GSR just west of Ramona, KS on September 16, 2021.

Thanks for looking!

Uncommon light in that shot, and a one unit beats an empty track every time—at least for me.

Yup! High ground at the particular spot, and the sun was just a couple of minutes from dropping below the horizon...

That's cutting it close, just a couple minutes later that image might not have been possible.
