Found these 2 examples in Michigan last week.  They appear to somehow be projected continuous-tone rather than the typical hand brush or spray painted--not sure how this is done.

1.     This one depicts a D&M train arriving the depot at Standish MI

2.     Neat application to the side of a downtown building in Durand MI

3.     Also at Durand MI, I noticed the water tower     Home of the Railroaders        as was also the theme at Ellis KS
