Walmart Z train?
Author: jefflocal

Hi TO
Yesterday I saw a southbound intermodal train passing through Albany OR. It had a bunch of Walmart containers and most were top stacked. I'm guessing this is so they can be prioritized. I haven't seen many of these containers on the I-5 before. Is this due to the current supply chain issues.

I believe these are the new ones being delivered to Portland, OR port. Now travelling SB to LA area for use.

Thanks ross, that makes sense they did look pretty clean.

Last time I was out in CA, there were a TON of them stacked up not too far outside LA in a yard off I-10. They all looked brand new, I wonder if that is where these are going.

Hi Jeff,

Here are some photos of your Walmart Z train later in the day at Fields, MP 555 on the Cascade Line.

Reuters noted Walmart's filled 53 foot boxes offloaded in Portland are on their way to Los Angeles to be sorted for distribution inside the US.
