Western Railroad Discussion > Stanislaus on the move.Date: 11/16/21 14:55 Stanislaus on the move. Author: dbinterlock Heads up for Eastbound move.
Today in Los Angeles in the Los Angeles Junction Railway, the LACBAR - Los Angeles Commerce to Barstow manifest train has this passenger car as a rear rider. Does anyone know the story? Date: 11/16/21 16:51 Re: Stanislaus on the move. Author: Topfuel This car was rescued off the NWP in 2008, about 10 minutes before being cut up for scrap. It was moved to a private spur track on the LA Junction RY in the City of Commerce, CA at that time. Last fall, it was sold to the Friends of the 4449. It was one of the Shasta Daylight coaches that was on the World's Fair Daylight in 1984. It would have moved to Oregon this past July, but with all the fires in Northern CA, and then the time it took to make repairs to the former WP Inside Gateway route, it's just now heading to it's new home on the Albany and Eastern in Albany, OR. It still has the original SP interior, as it was never refurbished by Amtrak. It is the former Amtrak 7511, built by P-S in 1949.

Thanks for the rest of the story. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/17/21 09:46 by Goatboat. Date: 11/17/21 15:31 Re: Stanislaus on the move. Author: trainjunkie Nice catch Brian. Jesse, seen in the photos, had to take the shove about two miles hanging off the end of that car and was none too happy about it. I sure would like to see it when restored. I assume the other cars that were there got cut up unfortunately? If so, how many? Posted from Android |
