Heck of a lot of tanks.  Train not over powered either.  What's it making 25  MPH  ?

I think 30-35 mph.

 

Tanks alot. Not often we see good dumpter shots like that.  Just kidding about the dumpster..

I doubt we ever had that many tanks in Afghanistan.  Probably tanks being mothballed somewhere in the desert...Fort Irwin?.  I don't know where we mothball tanks...like the planes at Davis-Monntham.

Maybe they are being sent to Ukraine...maybe Biden sold them off??

Nope, they don't mothball tanks at Ft Irwin. They "mothball" excess equipment at Army Depots. That's part of their job function.

Thanks...I should have realized that.Since "Googling" Sierra Army Depot brings up photos of rows and rows of tanks in the dessert...maybe they are headed in that direction.

Probably aren't contemplating giant tank battles on the plains of Europe, the deserts of the Middle East, or anywhere for that matter...so, maybe headed to storage there.  Were these ex-USMC tanks by any chance...they don't have tanks any mor3e.

It could be going to Fort Ord in Califonia.

Fort Irwin often has brigade sized training.
It could be part of the equipment for the next unit to rotate through

You were right the first time. Ft Ord no longer exists. It's now California State University Monterey Bay and a bunch of other stuff.

I have a personal belief that there are 3 trainloads or military equipment, and the DoD just endlessly shuffles them around the country to make it look like they're doing something with their trillions of dollars. :D
 

I never saw any tanks at Ord when I was there in 59-61...

I was at Ft. Ord for basic and infantry school in 1969/70. No armor there. We did all our combined arms training as armored infantry with APCs & tanks down at Fort Irwin.
