Anyone know if BNSF ran trains across Stampede during the time I-90 and US 2 were closed? I know Stevens was thoroughly bollixed, but how about Stampede?

There was an attempt before they had to back a train down to Kanaskat. It was closed for about 36 hours and BNSF ended up flying their private jet up and flew TYE crews from Boeing Field to Pasco.

I believe there is still an empty double grain train that is frozen to the rail on Main 1 in Easton.

Thanks. They're runing the argument for rail as resilient transportation. Running more, shorter trains in snow and cold is just so not PSR.

That is kinda basic isn't it?  Also light power runs or small consist.

It is to experienced railroaders.  The old-head trainmasters who came from the craft are all but gone.  Nowadays, local management consists of business-school graduates with zero hands-on experience, who aren't allowed to make decisions on their own.  Everything has to go through Ft. Worth.  When engineers/conductors/switchmen/yardmasters try to suggest a solution to a problem, the standard reply is always, "I'll have to check with the chief dispatcher to see what he wants to do."  Hours are wasted, crews go dead on their hours.  Demoralized crews develop an "I don't care, it's not my problem" attitude when they're dealing with constant managerial dithering.  

We had a college grad whose only job had been a nanny. She was a Trainmaster. And not very bright, at least in the working world. They eventually walked her off the property. Apparently she didn't like to be disturbed while skiing. A lot.....
And no clue what a flashing red signal was. We tested her one morning when she has to make a mandatory ride with the local. 
We had an engine to deliver and it was behind a dead engine in the yard. After 10 days I asked her when is she going to deliver the customers engine. She said they couldn't move the dead engine cause it wouldn't start. So I told her to get another to move it.....You can do that? Was her reply. Sheesh. 

Pretty sure I saw the stuck train leaving Hauser today. It was a double and had about three feet of snow on every car.
