Low Light on an H-1
Author: santafe199

I use the term “Low Light” as a shameless cover-up for some plain, old crappy overcast weather. But that IS a BNSF H-1 paint job we’re playing stare-down with. Under a cantilever searchlight, no less! That oughtta count for something... :^)

Grain Train I ran yesterday had two H1 CW44-9's, 1071 as the second unit and 968 as the DPU.

I remember one of my very first experiences with the (then) brand-new 900s in the mid-90s. I didn't have much trouble getting used to the new paint. But I had quite a time getting used to how bleeping easy it was to let 3 of them get too frisky and snap a knuckle 7 deep on a unit grainer...

Oops......... :^(

Now that's a cool cantilever--simple, but effective, unlike the overbuilt ones they're installing these days.
