Long nighttime empty flatcar wind turbine unit train...
Author: jmulhol2

A 1+ mile long, 3x0 southbound empty flatcar wind turbine unit train is seen here passing ~MP70 on the BNSF Front Range Subdivision during the evening hours of 1/15/2022. This train originated at Swan Ranch in Speer, WY. Originally the train was 2x0, but owing to mechanical issues with one of the motors, the passing southbound H-LAUDEN manifest freight train that had just departed Cheyenne, WY, had to drop off one of their motors (BNSF #6669; this motor actually led a northbound H-DENLAU manifest freight train a few days ago) for additional power. Furthermore, en route to meet a northbound H-DENLAU manifest freight train at Owl Canyon, CO, the train went into emergency at least 2 times owing to issues with the air brakes. Safe to say based on the dispatcher's dialogue that this crew will run out on hours and have to tie the train down either at Longs Peak, CO, or Broomfield, CO, until a relief crew can be called...

Total # of axles = 310 (3 motors; 73 cars)

Power:
BNSF #3825 (GE ET44C4; built: 06/2016)
BNSF #6855 (GE ES44C4; built: 01/2012)
BNSF #6669 (GE ES44C4; built: ??/????)

Alternately,  this could be considered a load of hot air balloon fuel.... Nice video!
