Western Railroad Discussion > Shortest mainline manifest freight train that I've ever seen...Date: 01/20/22 12:29 Shortest mainline manifest freight train that I've ever seen... Author: jmulhol2 A very short 3x1 southbound H-LAUDEN manifest freight train is seen here passing ~MP66-67 on the BNSF Front Range Subdivision as it departs Fort Collins, CO, before entering Loveland, CO, during the chilly afternoon hours of 1/18/2022. This train met it's counterpart, the northbound H-DENLAU manifest freight train, at Federal, WY, earlier this morning before coming into the Cheyenne, WY, yard where it had a large setout of cars. Thereafter, the Cheyenne-based crew dragged the train to the Owl Canyon, CO, siding, tied the train down, and took the head end power southbound to Dixon, CO, where a van picked up the crew. This is necessary as crew changes cannot occur directly at Owl Canyon owing to the close proximity to Interstate-25, along with no easy-access roads. A Denver-based crew reached the train a couple hours later, re-attached the head end power to the train, and away they went. This train would then go onto have a pickup at Highland, CO, before continuing south toward its final destination, Denver, CO.
