Western Railroad Discussion > More Trains with Military Equipment?

Just looking at the railfan cams (and exerpts on Youtube) it seems there are more trains carrying tanks, etc., than usual. Anybody else noticed this?

Putin said last month that countries that interfere with his special military operation will face consequences like nothing we have ever seen.

More likely that any increase in military train activity in recent weeks is the result of 1) military training cycles. There is a flood of trains when a unit does its field training at fort irwin (and a couple of other locations), and a second flood of trains when the training is concluded
2) now that middle eastern deployments are over, alot of equipment has returned to the continental US and is in need of maintenance, refurbishing, storage and in some cases scraping. This generates significant movement.
Now if there is a sudden appearance of RORO ships at military docks on the east coast.....

I don't think there's an uptick in military train movements. This traffic has always been cyclical and people or just watching it more closely now.

Are cabooses still required on tank trains?

Several trains with military tanks did not have cabooses.

Not since 1994.

The webcams that are now available all over the US have likely increased the “apparent” number of special moves since they are now being seen and noted upon rather than any actual increase.

Yeah but he's underestimating Urkraine, they're not going down easily!
