I especially like the CP unit. Those green buses are just like in my home town when growing up in the 50s

In SF they had everything, buses, streetcars and Cable Cars and SP commute trains. Larry Date: 05/02/22 19:35 Re: Some Sunday and Monday Action On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: cewherry Nos 19 & 20 show us a little more of Pacific Electric's West Hollywood yard and shops layout.
In No 19 the photographer is standing about in the middle of the 5 1/2 acre yard, looking north toward Santa Monica Blvd with the Hollywood Hills in the background. The building at the right is the shop building which lost its as built purpose as Pasadena & Pacific's, later Los Angeles Pacific's main shops after the 1911 Great Merger when "New" PE moved those functions to it's pre-existing shops at 7th & Central in Los Angeles. Following that move, this building provided running repairs only for those lines based here. When built, the West Hollywood yard encompassed 2.5 miles of yard tracks as well as an electric substation, freight station, passenger waiting room (along Santa Monica Blvd) as well as a 10 track carhouse and trainman's room. You can Google the location today where LA Metro's Division 7 occupies only a portion of the original yard. No 20; The photographer has moved further south and, still pointing his camera north, now gets a portion of the 10 car carhouse in the picture. We also see tower car 00164. This car came to "Old" PE in 1902 from Golden Gate Park & Ocean Shore Ry. It was rebuilt by "New" PE in 1912 to a box motor and again in 1939 to the tower car we see here. In 1950 the car was assigned to PE Western District owing to its unique ability as PE's only line car small enough to fit in the subway. It was sold to Metropolitan Coach Lines along with the remainder of PE's passenger operations in 1953 and following abandonment of all electric service on the Western District was trucked by MCL to Long Beach in 1955 where it served on the Southern District until the final ending in 1961 after which it was scrapped at National Iron & Metals on Terminal Island. No 23 is at MCL's Venice bus garage, former site of PE's Ocean Park Car House. You will find this today as LA Metro's Division 6. In this view we are looking south-east from Pacifc Ave in the Venice Beach area. Charlie Date: 05/02/22 21:59 Re: Some Sunday and Monday Action On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: zaltwsp7 Looks like you got your CP unit after all Larry lol.
We had 2 CP trains go by here at Sunset Jct. after 6pm. A loaded potash and a manifest. Really wish (for you) that they would pay you another visit. - Andy Date: 05/02/22 22:01 Re: Some Sunday and Monday Action On The BNSF-A Bit Of Traction Author: Ritzville Thanks everyone! Thanks Charlie for all the side information on the PE and buses, much appreciated! Had lots of foreign power today Andy. I missed Warbonnet 777, I'll try and catch it on it's return trip.
