Just When You Thought Winter Was Over....

...turns out that it isn't.  Or at least it wasn't this afternoon on MRL's 2nd sub, as this eastbound mixed manifest worked upgrade between Louisville and Winston, east of Helena MT.  5/8/2022.

Nice catch in the late season snow! Cool weather has certainly prevailed this Apr-May. Not complaining though!

I was attending the wonderful Nevada Railroad Museum Doodle Bug fest this weekend. On the way home to SoCal, I thought about keeping going north to the Montana Rail Link. When I checked the weather I was blown away with the Montana forecast! So, I headed south instead changing planes at Las Vegas--overcast and 95 degrees! Boy, I'm sure thankful for the weatherman!

I once heard Wyoming weather described as nine months of winter plus three months of poor skiing.
Seems apt here too.
Great image, thanks for sharing.

We in the further west are entering the hurt-zone in regards to water.

The Piper will be paid as always.

Did BNSF take control of the entire Montana Rail Link?

My sister and brother in law lived in Cheyenne, WY for several years while he was in the Air Force.

They joked it would snow once and blow around the rest of the winter.

Mojave, when it snows, often snows horizontally...
