Westbound coal this afternoon in Palisade Canyon NV.  (Is that coal?  I think it's coal...   )

A wonderful image of the geology of the Humbolt R Canyon and the two lines, the former WP and SP.
You nailed the lighting on those cliffs.

Tis coal. They run them to Richmond and Stockton for export.

Fantastic shot! In addition to the export business there are also, for now, coal trains to the power plants at Valmy and Dunphy, this looks like one of them. Valmy is nearing the end of its life and TS has been talking about switching to gas for a while now.

Is the train on what used to be SP or WP tracks?

I didn't even think of the Valmy or Dunphy trains. Looking things up, there was a westbound Richmond coal train at Palisade yesterday afternoon at 15:12. I'm guessing that is the train picture. UP 7054, UP 5394, 93 loads of coal, UP 9083, UP 8608.

Love anything Palisade!

I still remember those multiple echoes of horns, off those canyon walls.

Thanks for posting this!
