I spent a day in March near the Trout Creek trestle and saw a grand total of ONE in daylight.
(and that one was just as daylight was fading)

I *think* 2 of the daily SBs are the PASFRS and VAWFRS these days.

Is oil moving down the OT these days?  Or the unit grain trains?

Robert and others,

BNSF is now routing the Sweetgrass, MT to any central CA destination down the east side of the Rockies and west on the BNSF Southern Transcon.   Not sure why the reasoning from BNSF, but I haven't seen a grain train from Sweetgrass, MT move west of the Rockies in a while.

Oil trains are very sporadic still.  Best bet is the n/b OIGSEA and the couple of manifests on the line currently.

A Sweetgrass to Modesto grain train passed through here a couple of days ago on the Joint Line. Mind boggling. SIX crews via high line at least FIFTEEN crews via Joint Line and Amarillo  ?  ?  ?  Incuding at least three on MRL! Not to mention almost three times the mileage.

Tehach sees both grain and cottonseed out of SWE on a regular basis.

JB,

Sweetgrass trains don't touch the MRL.  They go from Sweetgrass, MT to Shelby to Great Falls to Laurel, MT.  They then go south to Denver.

I mean...they were running H BARPAS trains all the way out to Galesburg and then back west earlier this year

Yes that's part of the equation. For example in Klamath Falls OR we will have crews to run trains but after a few days of some steady traffic Wishram WA will run out of people. Sometimes it's on the Stockton end, and once in a while because of Klamath. I think it's been pretty well covered around here why the Class 1's are having crew issues. There's a pretty long maintenance window on the Gateway as well. There doing ties from Halls Flat almost all the way to Keddie.
