Prior to the last light coming/going photos I posted last week with this train, I took what I had figured to be my last photo of it in Mountainair, NM. The very late day shadows were filling in available photo spots quickly, so I nabbed one where at least the lead unit was still in sun. While warm, the air was clean and fresh, at least until 12 GEs went screaming past (although only about 1/2 of them were actually pulling). 04-16-2022

Mountainair was an unexpected bonus to a wondrous trip thru Abo Canyon for me back in 1993.

Be sure to have a meal at the Ancient Cities Cafe. Eldest sez it's the best Mexican food he's ever had -and he grew up in south central texas.   And be aware this is rattlesnake country - watch where you put your fingers when scrambling around. 

The Ancient Cities Cafe has changed hands and is now the Mustang Diner.  Food is still excellent.
