The Southern California Railway Museum has had a few instances of hot air balloons landing dangerously close to the right of way and almost getting tangled in the overhead wire.

Sounds more like a hot air ballon collided with a moving train.

Well they're right in the middle of what we like to call the Southern California Air Circus.  In that one patch of airspace within about 10 miles of the Homeland VOR at or below 5000 feet on a weekend morning you have heavy jet aircraft, jet fighters, large general aviation aircraft, small general aviation aircraft, hang gliders, sailplanes, ultralites, skydivers, skydiver aircraft, helicopters and hot air ballons all flying in the same airspace. And about half of them do not show up on radar.

Actually there are, but they're MQ-9's from March ARB and they do show up on radar.
