Ritzville Action
Clear and comfortable, the way I like it.  The traffic volume and mix are impressive.
BNSF #1685 was a super nice catch.  The Grain Train hoppers are really neat.

Historic Traction
18 - Wonderful heavy interurban action scene.  The tower arrangement is very interesting.
20 - DC Transit scene is really a traction treasure.
22 - The Santa Monica bus scene is super; the GM New Look is one of my favorite models.

Thanks for keeping the camera rolling and goodies flowing.  Really appreciate your work.

ALLEN

Good catch on the Grain hoppers Larry. I really like those. That DC Traction pic could well be up near the Train station. ???

No 18 is at Amoco, on PE's Southern District. The two 1200 class cars are so-called "Butterfly Twelves"
as denoted by their special paint treatment, along with other enhancements, received in their 1939
upgrade--an attempt to attract passengers to the Los Angeles-San Bernadino service. Alas, it was for
naught as PE abandoned scheduled passenger service east of Covina after November 1, 1941.
Following 1941, these "Butterflies" could be seen throughout PE's far-flung system as we see here.
The dash sign says "Newport Beach Express" supposedly to let "in-the-know" passengers awaiting
a car to stop and pick them up that this car wasn't going to do so; except at four locations between
LA and North Long Beach: Slauson Jct, Watts, Compton and Dominguez Jct.

A caption in Alan Copeland's book Pacific Electric in Color, Vol 1, says the final Newport Beach Express
ran on June 30, 1950.

The 1200s, except for 1299, were sold for scrap in 1951.

#19, the destination is "San Fernando", I grew up there and would like to know the location of the photo, and where perhaps the charter originated.

The practice of placing some destination, not attainable for a variety of reasons, in the destination
signs of streetcars came into vogue during the height of railfan charter trips. What we see in this
photo is a bit of good-natured tomfoolery, courtesy the members of the Electric Railway Association
as well the management of Los Angeles Transit Lines.

This L. Swanson photo, in the collection of Andy Goddard, 'Ritzville's' source of many, if not all, of these
traction photos was taken March 18, 1957 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the inauguration
of PCC streetcar service in Los Angeles. Here we see the car 3001 on LATL's R-Line, Whittier Blvd
somewhere east of downtown LA.

I can't help you on the question of where the charter originated, but here you will see two more photos of the same trip:  https://www.pacificelectric.org/los-angeles-railway/r-line/r-line-3001-on-pcc-anniversary/
