Western Railroad Discussion > UP 844 at Onaga ala 2012Date: 06/30/22 01:50 UP 844 at Onaga ala 2012 Author: santafe199 Here’s another look at a sequence of shots at this location. This is the first posting for this 16th image in the day’s 844 sequence. But I’ve had almost 10 years to learn & refine any Photoshop skills I may have annexed. They say ‘practice makes perfect’, right?! So I guess with another 30-40 years of practice I’ll have this photo-editing thing down pat... ;^)
1. UP 844 is compass southbound (TT east) at the KS hwy 16 overpass in Onaga, KS on October 13, 2012. Thanks for the second look! Lance Garrels santafe199 Edited 1 time(s). One trip I was driving the suburban from Marysville to Topeka to swap out firing with Lynn and I stopped at that overpass to take a photograph. Our good friend Steve Watrous who took the majority of videos for us to sell in the souvenir car was standing next to me. I convinced him to video right over the tracks. As the 844 rounded the curve and headed straight at us, I backed away. I took my radio and called Lynn and asked for a little extra smoke where we stood. Well, Lynn being Lynn, he gave it a good shot of oil and smoked out the overpass. Steve turned around and saw me standing back and gave me a look I will never forget. Actually that video turned out to be a lot better than I thought. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 06/30/22 07:23 Re: UP 844 at Onaga ala 2012 Author: switchlock These were the best of times.

That is one fine photo and scan. Gonut Date: 06/30/22 18:46 Re: UP 844 at Onaga ala 2012 Author: mg8711 It would be 4 years and 2 days later before that scene repeated itself, in which was now almost 6 years ago...I like the Big Boy, but I sure do miss 844.

Hope it wasn't the type of look that got you in trouble Bob! |
