For several years now, BNSF has been assigning "GN" reporting marks to stored, out-of-service locomotives that will likely never run again in order to free up their BNSF number series for new locomotives. 

Having said that, BNSF hasn't actually filled the 3436, 3443, and 6493 slots with new locomotives yet, but "GN 6493" is coupled to SD45-2 "GN 6512."  BNSF 6512 is currently an ES44C4 built in late 2014, which gives you some idea of how long those 45-2's have been in storage. 

Those GN-lettered units had been in the deadlines at Galveston until May 2022, when they were moved back north for sale/scrap:
