I just read that the railroads are having trouble moving animal feed so we may be faced with a reduction in our meat supply.  Maybe the crews should stay in Amarillo.

Well, that's interesting. Are the transported crews qualifed over that subdivision or do they pair them with a conductor or engineer qualified on the section?

I can't help but wonder if settling the current labor dispute would help fix this problem.

Using trains to deadhead Barstow to Bakersfield and latest rumor is that Needles is 50 people short.

Which dispute?

The one over the Hi-Viz attendance policy?

The one over our expired labor agreements?

Or the one concerning crew consist?

You know, all the stuff the carriers have brought on themsleves by allowing themselves to be distracted pandering to Wall Street, instead of running their companies properly.

You mean Amarillo to Belen, which has indeed happened in the past few days.

Back in the 1970s the SP would fly volunteer supervisors from around the system to help break the chronic logjams around Houston on weekends.
During those times the oil patch was hiring any warm body that showed up, the RR was losing employees then too.

We're a lot less randy on CSX but we sure feel about the same way....it ain't us.....it's the decision makers who couldn't run a toy train around a Christmas Tree. And PSR has GOT TO GO and people who sing it's praises shall burn in HELL. We won't put them there they will bury themselves very easily.

Anecdotal evidence; but today I went out fan the Stockton, Ca area. I saw one moving bnsf freight, and 4 trains waiting on crews parked in the various sidings and double track from Escalon(2 north bounds in the siding) to Mormon Yard in 5 hours. It’s about 20 miles between the 2 points.

I was wondering why there was a lack of action, so this makes sense.

Watching the Barstow webcam and ATCS.  Looks like a decent amount of traffic moving there, including a westbound stacker that is going past the depot with an ex Santa Fe warbonnet leader, 619 I think (it was ratty).

Absolutely!  In a nutshell.  Perfectly stated.  And railroads are not the only industry in this fine state of affairs.

Except this doesn't apply to BNSF since they're not publicly traded.

Sure it does. BNSF is part of the Berkshire Hathaway Class B stock portfolio.

Not publicly traded, but it does apply since they have just as greedy an owner as Wall St is. That's the point...

I have Berkshire Hathaway class B stock.
BRA.B stock is from the ATSF days.
Yes you can by the stock so BNSF is part of Wall Street.

And Amtrak hasn't complained about the delays 3 and 4 have experienced no thanks to this, only thing that'll change is a strike, and you know the Big Wigs don't want that!
