Winston Hill Date: 08/18/22 11:46 Re: Narrow Gauge and Standard Gauge Meet Again Author: Earlk It is ineresting that they parked their engine on the end of the wye, as there is no reason to do so unless the crew was making a "social visit" to the C&TS gang (which we did if the timing was right). Wouldn't be suprized if Mike Shawcroft was running that day. Mike is an un-abashed fan. He started on the SLRG working with the steam crew firing the #18. His dad Brett "Charley" Shawcroft was an SLRG engineer on both steam and diesel and before that worked for the C&TS,. Mike's grandfather, Jim Shawcroft, worked for the D&RGW out of Alamosa.

Any update on who, if anyone, presented a qualifying bid on the bankruptcy sale last month? One rumor, and strictly a rumor, was that if no one bid then STB might have UP take over operations for a while. Could be interesting as the track over LaVeta Pass takes a lot of maintenance and winter operations can be difficult.
Date: 08/18/22 21:15 Re: Narrow Gauge and Standard Gauge Meet Again Author: Earlk The local newspaper in Alamosa reported that two entities made qualifiying bids for the SLRG. Now it is up to the bankruptcy trustees to decide.
