Denton local westbound
Author: KB5WK

It was an interesting day on the KCS west end. With the Alliance sub closed in Plano getting rehabbed for DART Silve Line passenger trains to DFW Airport.  Traffic is now re routed on the White Rock branch and Dallas sub to Dallas yard. Once the trian arrives Dallas yard. They power has be ran around to the other end to get going again. Its slows every thing down.  Today was a good example. The Denton local DAMT aka RWY302 job usually departs Wylie yard to Denton TX around 10-11 am every Wednesday to work 84 Lumber and Tetra-Pak in Denton TX.

The eastbound LWY101 that runs to Alliance yard in Haslet was a little late coming back to Wylie. The 101 got recrewed at Ohio Rd in Plano this morning aorund 9 am with the yard job. They made it to Dallas yard by 11 am.  They departed Dallas yard by noon and went on the law as they appoached the Alliance junction switch in Wylie. Things detoriated from there.  After the 101 finally got in the yard. The Denton local departed. Caught them crossing Central Expressway in Richardson TX with the drone.

KCS 1910-2824 westbound around 4:10 pm today, 09/14/22 running longhood foward.

Great group of photos of the local.  Interesting that the lead GP40 has the newer style 'Q' (for quiet) radiator fans that first debuted for EMD around 1980 - must have picked them up at some point during rebuilding.

A search on the Diesel shop indicates that the 2824 is ex-Western Pacific GP40 #3516 while the 1910 is ex-Boston & Maine GP38-2 #207.

Nice catch, it's not SF cowls, 45s and C30s lugging long TOFC trains but it's better than nothing...
