Western Railroad Discussion > Moab - Potash Local and Rocky Mountaineer?

Leaving in the morning for a week out West.  We're bringing the kids (and packing a lot of objectives into not a lot of time) so I won't have a ton of time to sit by the tracks, but what do rail movements look like on the branch to Moab these days?

Is UP's Potash Local still making a round trip on Fridays, coming and going in the middle of the day?

How about the Rocky Mountaineer operation?  Searching the archives reveals that it leaves Moab on Monday and Thursday afternoons.  Does it arrive in the morning those days, or does it get into town on Sunday/Wednesday and then lay over?  Also, where does it load/unload/lay over?  I remember reading here that it stops short of town to transfer passengers to bus, but searching the archvies didn't reveal where.

Actually its the only day of the week that does not end in "day".  Ben

Rocky Mountaineer visits the Moab line on Mondays and Thursdays at 7 Mile Siding north of Moab, Utah.  Train disembarks passengers and takes on new passengers for run to Glenwood Springs, CO.  Beleive departure time is 2:30 - 3:00 PM.  Trips operate until mid-October as I recall.
