Waldeck at sunset
Author: santafe199

Down on the GSR between Durham & Canton, Kansas there exists a lonely siding called Waldeck. An unconfirmed rumor says Waldeck was once an actual town. And hold the fort: it ‘honest-to-goodness’ shows up in Google Maps with coordinates of 38.433791 -97.316662. At least that’s the spot I shot this silhouette from.

In modern reality I’ve found no trace of anything that indicates a township was ever at this location. Truth is, whenever a train takes the siding here for a meet Waldeck acquires a population of 2 (two). And when the other train shows up that population soars up to 4 (four)! No foolin’...

1. Looking WNW at the east end of Waldeck (KS) siding on the ex-Rock Island GSR. It’s 8:05 PM on September 1, 2022. Just another fine example from the Master Artist... :^)

Thanks for the Artwork!

So Lance,
This fellow posted a really great sunset photo, lacking a train, a common problem, on the eastern board. Check it out -
https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,5550228. A bit more complex in composition than a double-stack silouette(sp) on a billiard table :) . But so interesting!
