Western Railroad Discussion > 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa subDate: 09/29/22 13:14 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: AndyBrown CP's Kansas City line was busy this morning in the Muscatine, IA area.
1&2. First 2 trains were northbound mty grain train and then CP tr. 261 at mp236 west of Letts IA. 3. Middle DP on 261 was nothing special but I always shoot them anyway. Date: 09/29/22 13:16 Re: 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: AndyBrown 4. 260/261 met at Letts so while waiting for 260 to come out I was using the zoom to try a pole line shot. Loooking toward Letts from mp235.
5. Big consist on 260. 6. One of the former BN, now KCS GEs in the consist. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/29/22 13:17 by AndyBrown. Next was a southbound 2-260 which was just a grain train so I don't know why they called it a 260, which headed in at NSS Heinz on the east side of Muscatine to meet 261.

14-15. We closed out the day with another northbound mty grain train with CP 9010 in the consist, shown here on the Muscatine riverfront. Good day! Thanks for looking! Andy Date: 09/29/22 14:03 Re: 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: PasadenaSub Great group of photos, interesting with KCS putting their logo on the side of the cab on the ex-BNSF.
And I've never seen a 4-target signal like that before. Rich Date: 09/29/22 14:13 Re: 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: robj What a great day, thanks.

I've heard a train called M280 addressed on the KCS Rosenberg Sub (south of Houston, TX) and have been told that it is a run-through train off the CP. Have you heard of or encountered such a train in your neck of the woods? Matthew P. S. I envy you catching the Red Barn. Date: 09/29/22 18:33 Re: 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: AndyBrown Thanks for the kind remarks guys!
Roadmaster, Negative on the 280; not a symbol I'm familiar with, but CP renumbered most trains a year or so ago and I barely know the common numbers on this line. And I was very happy to get the barn even with the poor sun angle. I'm hoping that it starts bouncing back and forth through here, but didn't want to squander the opportunity just in case it never returns! These signals date from circa 1991 when CP owned the line the first time and replaced the old RI era hardware, and removed the old eastbound main between Muscatine and Montpelier. There's even a 5 aspect model at CTC Montpelier. Andy Date: 09/29/22 19:12 Re: 5 trains on CP's Ottumwa sub Author: bobk Great series!
