Western Railroad Discussion > A Preference For RedDate: 11/17/22 15:25 A Preference For Red Author: MacBeau This nearly matched trio of SD70Ms shown descending Cajon Pass around Sullivan's Curve back in January 2010 illustrates nicely the now vanished red frame stripe. The two behind strike this photographer as lacking the same je ne sais quoi, but as Mark Twain noted, "It is difference of opinion that makes horse-races."

It's scotchlite reflective striping, reflects very well, just not as well as the FRA specified yellow or white. Date: 11/17/22 22:01 Re: A Preference For Red Author: SCUfoamer This is really nice. I have shot Sullivans Curve a handful of times and find it more challenging to shoot than one would think. I agree, the Red is nice and matching 70Ms in better days don't hurt.

Then why do they use red on truck trailers (of course with alternating white)? Posted from Android Date: 11/18/22 06:13 Re: A Preference For Red Author: rrpreservation Thanks everyone for posting!!!

Of course trucks are regulated by DOT which is a different agency.
