The Septa Trolley (Kawasaki) #100 is coming off the service tracks at the 69th Street Transportation Center. The cars in the background are parked in the median of West Chester Pike. When I was a kid those stub storage tracks were the mainline to West Chester, Pa. That trolley line had the distiction of, despite very heavy ridership, was pulled up to allow widening of West Chester Pike. It would have been too expensive to move it out of the way, but not too expensive to plow it under to add two lanes of highway! I recall seeing the Red Arrow cars (original owner of the West Chester line) in West Chester in its last years of existance and as a kid sadly dissapointed that one day travelling through West Chester they were no longer there. Replaced by ugh! Buses. Of course back then you could ride the Pennsylvania RR Red Rattlers from Philadelphia to West Chester.
Thanks for your obscure transit posts!

Ritzville Action
Sunny skies have finally returned making things bright again.
Grain traffic dominated the scene with a little manifest for variety.
Unit Of The Day is BNSF #9730.

Historic Traction
17 - Cab Stand next to trolley stop is a real convenience; first taxi in line is a 1954 Chevrolet.
20 - Always enjoy the trolley bus photos, brings back memories from my childhood.
21 - #2911 is a GM Model TDH-4801 built in 1953, a California Only Model; I remember "Bubble Up".
        #2006 is a GM Model PDA-4101 built in 1948.

Thanks for another excellent installment in your action and traction series.
Always appreciate the time you spend to compile your postings.

No 17 shows Los Angeles Transit Lines (LATL) car 1513 along with another unidentified car at the south end
of the 5-Line on Hawthorne Blvd at W. Broadway in the Hawthorne area of greater Los Angeles. The two cars
will head north shortly as two separate schedules. At one time they would have been able to do so while in
M.U. control but LARy abandoned the practice in the 1930's.

No 21 shows former Pacific Electric TDH-4801 number 2911, a 1953, 48 seat GM product, wearing its LAMTA
logo while awaiting its next call at the storage lot east of Maple St in downtown Los Angeles.

The cars are almost better than the trolleys, especially in #20! Peugeot! Nash American Convertible! And more!
