Empty American Crystal Sugar coal unit train bound for the mines
Author: jmulhol2

A 2x1, 128-car, eastbound (geographically southbound) empty American Crystal Sugar unit coal train from Ardoch, ND (coal transload facility) bound for loading at Spring Creek Mine, MT is seen here passing ~MP90.5 on the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision during the blustery and cold morning hours of 12/03/2022. This train was made up of fairly new "CITX" ("CIT" group) open coal hoppers with a distinctive yellow stripe along the front side of the cars. The crew was instructed to take the train to the "coal connector" down near Fargo, ND and tie the train down until a mid-afternoon rested outbound crew could take the train westward.
