North-Central Wisconsin Colors for Tuesday
Author: rrartist

Yes it's Winter and yes it was cold and yes the forecast was calling for cloudy skies, so what do we do? We head off to CN land in Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point WI and sometimes a plan just comes together, so sit back and see what we saw on our Tuesday journey starting of West of Stevens Point with the CN (BCOL) 3115 on a northbound tank train. Not a bad way to start the day! The CN Marshfield Local was next with the CN 5417 in charge.

Time to head down to Wisconsin Rapids where the CN 5407, CN 5643 and the CN 5487 were resting. I'll see the 5407 / 5487 again later.

Back up in Stevens Point I found the CN 5409 (I believe was the Plover Local) working on the west end of Stevens Point. Near the engine facility (but photographed off a city street) I found the CN 5416. Back to Junction City for lunch at the Bunny Hop Diner (Excellent food) and the south bound CN 3031.

The sun started to break through as the CN 3261 charged south east of Marshfield WI, lo and behold the CN 3023 (EJ&E) was the the DPU on this south bound Stacker. CN 8862 South cools its heels in the Rock Run siding west of Stevens Point WI.

CN 5407 / 5487 were returning from Wausau as we were heading home through Wisconsin Rapids. We saw the BLE 866 working the Rapids yard on our way north but it was still very overcast but not on the way home! In near perfect light the BLE 866 worked the north end of the Rapids yard and then tied up near the yard office, unbelievable.

The last train for the day was captured a Cranmoor WI, CN 5612 leads the Wisconsin Rapids to Necedah local through Winter's blanket in North-Central Wisconsin.

I'm curious what all that traffic for Necesah is. UP interchange (or haulage for Rapids or Wausau?
