Western Railroad Discussion > Good-Looking Standard Cabs on a One-Car-WonderDate: 01/25/23 19:29 Good-Looking Standard Cabs on a One-Car-Wonder Author: TheNavigator Adding to ns2557’s post below of some nice-looking standard cabs, today’s Pasadena Roadswitcher/Pasadena Local departed the BNSF Kaiser Yard in Fontana, CA, shortly before 11:00 this morning with a repainted and still clean standard cab GP60 #180 in the lead. (OYW posted additional information about this unit a few days ago.) Also in consist was GP60 #190 and GP60M #138, trailed by a lone boxcar. Thanks to a radio transmission heard on the scanner along with some timely position reports, I was able to intercept it at Claremont as it made its way west over the old AT&SF 2nd District.
Thanks for looking, GK 1. 180 & Co. making good time through Claremont. 2. Rolling roster of 180. 3. Running about 10 minutes ahead of the Local was this typical Metrolink train in push mode, en route to LAUS. ~ Mr. MRL Date: 01/26/23 01:34 Re: Good-Looking Standard Cabs on a One-Car-Wonder Author: Evan_Werkema They do look good in that scheme. Also interesting that they haven't gotten the big "Thomas brow" numberboard extensions seen on many other types of BNSF standard cab units. Have they stopped doing those retrofits now, or is there something about the design of the GP60 that means they don't need the extra space for PTC equipment?

The Bombardier cars that have been retained are getting much needed overhauls that includes being repainted to match the Rotem cars. There's a few already back and in service. As for the locomotives the scheme on them matches nothing on the roster. |
