Went out this afternoon to try to find some action. Most of the lines around the area were pretty dead, but thanks to a tip from a friend I was able to find a westbound manifest coming into Smithville that I chased to Lockhart.

1. Cruising into Smithville
2) Departing Smithville onto the Lockhart Sub
3) A few miles outside of Smithville

4) Coming around a corner near Rosanky
5) Crossing a rural farm road near the town of Red Rock
6) Golden hour light in Red Rock

7) I parted ways with the train outside of Lockhart

From Lockhart, I headed back towards Austin. However, another tip from a friend made me take a detour to San Marcos for a rock train with NS 4002 trailing, painted in a specialty "DC to AC" paint scheme. 

8) That rock train crosses the Blanco River

All around a solid chase and a fun afternoon. Thanks for viewing!!

You did VERY well with the little UP offered!  It would be cool to catch NS 4002 leading; I wonder if that will happen while it is stuck in the central Texas rock train pool.  I was stunned when I saw 4002 in Katy when it visited back on the 17th.  I just looked on Heritage Units and saw that 1068 (Erie) continues trekking around southeast (and south) Texas.
