Western Railroad Discussion > Fire in Los Angeles Harbor AreaDate: 03/11/23 08:13 Fire in Los Angeles Harbor Area Author: sp3663 I was monitoring the LA Fire Dept last night and there was an "old railroad locomotive" on fire near L Street in Wilmington.
The fire department was having difficulty accessing the area. Anybody know anything about this? Date: 03/11/23 08:51 Re: Fire in Los Angeles Harbor Area Author: Topfuel There is an old heavyweight coach right in that neighborhood - north of L street, and at the southern end of the BNSF Watson Yard, and almost under the Anaheim Blvd overpass - that has been there for years. I wonder if that could be the source of the fire. I hope not.

In the early 90s, I was working for a bulk transport company and there was one time I had to go to that yard to pull plastic out of a car from Dow Chemical. I don't remember if the car was overweight or damaged or what, but I remember there were a couple of old passenger cars there against that building. Could that really be the same one? Date: 03/12/23 09:16 Re: Fire in Los Angeles Harbor Area Author: usmc1401 One of these cars was in Carson Ca at Carson St next to a rail served warehouse. The grade crossing was removed and that car was moved just before to Wilmington.
