UP's Pueblo West Local

UP Train LDS53, which is the local that goes west on the old DRGW Tenn Pass Line was working it's major customer out this way yesterday early evening. Here are 3 shots of it getting ready to get back to Pueblo at the Holcim Cement Plant in Portland Co which is east of Florence Co.

Shot 1.  UP GP60 1019 with UP GP40-2's 1359 and 1482 work there way back into the yard at the plant. The large plant towers over the train here as it crosses Colo Hwy 120 at the Main Entrance to the plant. Not 100% sure if this is a daily run or not, but at least one day per week they head west from here to Canon City. Days vary, but has been on Tuesday as of late.

Shot 2.  UP 1019 with it;s trailing units sit while the engineer changes ends for the run back to Pueblo. One can see the Rock & Rail units that are found here when not used behind the rear unit, 1482.

Shot 3.  UP GP40-2 1482 has just pulled over the crossing and sits while the engineer grabs his grip and prepares to get out and move to the opposite end of the power. The Holcim Plant sign is to the left of the 1482.

Always seem to be late afternoon when they get here and with the light staying around abit longer as the year moves towards spring and summer.  Be well all, Ben

Haven't you figured out that you only shoot pictures when it's sunny?

Nice set of photos of the local - particularly the first with the plant in the background.

Yup, that's a very cool operation, that line even after the Pass was idled still has had some interesting
places to shoot. Keep up those efforts the sun will come out one of these days!
